The materials posted here are the Board approved or Conference approved resources created for the Adult Children of Alcoholics /Dysfunctional Families global fellowship. Much of this material was generated by the fellowship by way of the Literature Committee of WSO. Also listed are resources presented or produced at the ACA World Conventions.

Websites

The WSO maintains 2 websites, adultchildren.org, and acawso.org.

The Organization began with adultchildren.org. This site has always been focused on informing the fellowship, especially the newcomer. The website menu opens with a listing of Newcomer resources. There is a directory of registered meetings from around the globe, and Intergroups as well. Here you can find the free subscriptions to the newsletters, the Traveler and the Comline. Best of all, you can register to receive, by email, the daily passage from our meeting text, Strengthening My Recovery, for free.

With the accumulation of reports, minutes and documents, the original digital archive was moved to a new site, acawso.org. This website grew to support the volunteer service network of ACA. You can listen to the monthly Teleconference recordings, read committee reports and find various tools for participating in ACA service.  Monthly reports can be found in the “WSO Committees” section. Look here for the Recovery Events Calendar, which lists upcoming workshops, study groups and WSO happenings.

Literature

For any of the following books, booklets or trifolds, please visit the ACA Online store. Some publications are offered as ebooks or audio books.

The foundation of our program is The ACA Fellowship Text, commonly referred to as the Big Red Book (BRB). Published in November, 2006, the BRB is a treasure that explores not only the 12 Steps and Traditions of ACA, but a wide array of topics, such as sponsorship, starting a meeting, becoming your own Loving Parent and discovering your Inner Child.

The 12 Step Workbook, also known as the Yellow Book, is a distillation and expansion of the 12-Step section of the Big Red Book. This workbook is full of insights and exercises designed to guide a person through the Steps.

The daily reader, Strengthening My Recovery, is the text we read each day in our meeting.

The Laundry Lists Workbook explores the character traits which Adult Children developed, in order to survive growing up in a dysfunctional childhood. This book is designed for advanced survival trait recovery work, for members who have worked the 12 Steps.

The Loving Parent Guidebook explores, in practical terms, how to build this healing resource into your life. The book provides guidance on creating the conditions to reclaim your inner child and reparent yourself with gentleness, humor, love, and respect. You can apply everything you learn in this guidebook to parenting, interacting with children, and interacting with adults. When you become a friend to yourself, you’re naturally a friend to others. The book is structured to help you access the love inside you and grow the awareness and skills you need to become your own loving parent.

The World Service Organization also publishes a variety of Booklets and Trifolds. The booklets touch on topics such as the Cross Talk and the Newcomer. The trifolds address even more focused issues such as sponsorship, hosting a workshop, conducting a business meeting or the suggested practices around banking. Most of the trifolds are available for free.

For any of these books, booklets or trifolds, please visit the ACA Online store. Some publications are offered as ebooks.

Periodicals

The Comline is a quarterly publication from the Literature Committee. It showcases the experience, strength and hope of the fellowship, in the form of essays, poems and artwork. All members are encouraged to submit material, including in their native language. Special editions devoted to specific topics are published occasionally. The Traveler is a monthly listing of upcoming ACA events and announcements. Subscriptions to these are free and are emailed to you directly. Here are back issues of the Comline, including the special edition, Addressing Predatory Behavior.

Audio Downloads

If you would like to experience an ACA workshop, downloads are available. They include recordings from the ACA World Conventions (AWC), from 2016 to the present. The offerings are a mix of free or low-cost and are found at the ACA shop.

Here are the recordings of the workshops that were presented at the 2021 ACA World Convention. Though free, a contribution is requested.
