Motion 25-6: 30-Second Countdown to Close the Breakout Rooms

Proposed by Jim R

Issue:

I move that the prompt for closing the Breakout Rooms be timed for 30 seconds instead of the current 60 seconds.

Background:

The current situation; proposed improvements or remedies; perhaps some possible outcomes.

Presently when the Breakout Rooms close, the message to return to the main room counts down for a minute. There is no need for that much time to transition.

Rarely does another member add to the self-care identifications once the message to return pops onto the screen. And anyone sharing usually wraps up quickly.

Saying “thank you” to the room Host and participants takes all of 10 or 12 seconds.

We have never tried a 30-second countdown. A test for a month would be worthwhile, after which if someone makes the motion we could consider changing it back.

Comments will be open until October 17th

I feel this is got a tinge of hurry up and rushing that reminds me of how I can live my life due to my personal history. I like the bit of relaxing time to breathe that the 60 seconds allows.
I’ve witnessed people being cut off while sharing with the sixty second time allowance and all get zipped back to the main room without a chance to wrap up with the glow that the sharing has created.
If it does pass and is tested for a month, I would like to see the proposal automatically resubmitted for feedback and another poll taken so that the it doesn’t involve re-submitting it again. This is what a trial basis implies to me, and I wholly support the concept of trial basis that involves revisiting the idea., thanks for the suggestion
